FARRIN ("we", "our", or "us") connects members of the Caribbean diaspora across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean. Protecting your privacy and the safety of your personal information is a priority for us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
FARRIN is owned and operated by FARRIN-DATING. The FARRIN platform is designed, developed, and technically maintained by NUNAKI Intelligence, an independent technology partner, on our behalf. NUNAKI Intelligence processes data solely to build, host, and maintain the platform and does not use your information for its own purposes.
FARRIN is intended for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete that account and associated data.
In accordance with the restrictions of our payment processor and applicable law, FARRIN does not offer its services to individuals located in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea, Donetsk, or Luhansk regions.
To help keep FARRIN safe and reduce fake profiles, we offer selfie-based identity verification. If you choose to verify your profile, we ask you to take a live selfie, which is compared against your profile photos to confirm you are a real person matching your profile. Verified profiles display a badge. Your verification selfie is used solely for this purpose, is not displayed publicly, is not shared with other users, and is not used for any purpose beyond confirming your identity at the time of verification.
All photos uploaded to FARRIN, including profile photos and your verification selfie, are automatically scanned using AWS Rekognition, a third-party image analysis service, to detect inappropriate or explicit content before it can be uploaded to the platform. This scan happens automatically and is not reviewed by a person unless content is flagged for further review. This automated scan applies to photos only; voice introduction recordings are not automatically screened for content, and we rely on member reporting to identify and remove recordings that violate our Community Guidelines.
If you use Video Dates, your live video and audio during a call is transmitted through Daily.co, our video calling provider, to connect you with your match in real time. FARRIN does not record or store the video or audio content of your calls. We do keep a record of call metadata — such as when a call was requested, whether it connected, and how long it lasted — to enforce plan limits and time caps.
On the FARRIN tier, whether you've opened and read a message is visible to the person who sent it (a "Read Receipt"). This is limited to whether a message has been seen, not when or for how long.
Subscription payments are processed securely through PayPal. FARRIN does not directly store your full payment card or bank details — this information is handled by PayPal in accordance with its own security standards and privacy policy. We retain a record of your subscription tier, billing history, transaction status, and any one-time purchases (such as additional video date credits) for account management purposes.
We automatically collect certain technical information when you use FARRIN, including your IP address, browser or device type, and general log data, to help operate and secure the platform.
If you choose to enable notifications, your browser or device generates a unique subscription (an address and a set of encryption keys) that lets us send you a notification - for example, about a new match or message - even when FARRIN isn't open. We store this subscription only for as long as notifications remain turned on, and use it solely to deliver these notifications. You can turn notifications off at any time from Settings, which removes this subscription from our records.
We use the information we collect to:
Your profile photos, bio, general location, diaspora connection, and verification badge (if applicable) are visible to other FARRIN members as part of using the platform. Your email address, phone number, and full date of birth are never shown to other members. Elite members' photos are shown blurred to non-Elite members until a mutual match occurs, at which point the photo becomes visible to that match; other Elite members can see Elite photos without a match, unless the Elite member has chosen to keep their photos blurred within the Elite community as well.
We share limited information with trusted third-party providers who help us operate FARRIN, including payment processing (PayPal), phone verification and SMS delivery (Twilio), transactional email delivery such as account verification and password reset emails (Resend), bot and spam protection on our login and signup forms (Google reCAPTCHA), automated photo content moderation and selfie verification (AWS Rekognition), video calling for Video Dates (Daily.co), mapping and location lookup for Travel Mode (Mapbox), cloud hosting and infrastructure (such as Railway, Netlify, and Cloudinary), and our technology partner, NUNAKI Intelligence, who maintains the platform on our behalf. These providers are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of our members, investigate fraud, or comply with a legal process.
Your information is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard security practices to protect data transmitted through the platform, including encrypted connections. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal, safety, or billing purposes.

FARRIN connects members across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean. By using FARRIN, you understand that your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside of your home country. We take steps to protect your information regardless of where it is processed.
If you're located in the United Kingdom, you have rights under the UK GDPR in addition to those listed in Section 7, including the right to access, correct, or erase your personal information, and the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled.
We use session cookies to keep you logged into your account. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. We do use Google reCAPTCHA on our login and signup forms to help prevent spam and automated abuse, which may set its own cookies as part of that check; this is used solely for security purposes, governed by Google's own privacy policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and where changes are material, we will notify active members by email.
